2 tablespoons red food coloring30 blanched almonds2 large eggs¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract8 tablespoons (1 stick butter) unsalted butter1/2 cup confectioner’s sugar5 tablesppons granulated sugarPinch of salt1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
Make some parchment paperTake a paper grocery sack Cut it into the size of your cookie sheetSpray the paper with cooking spray
Blanch your almondsOr buy them pre-blanched.Put 30 almonds into waterBring to a boilThis will get rid of the bitternessand also make it easier to color.
Put some red foood coloring in a small bowlUsing a small paintbrush, color one sideof each almond.Set aside to dry
Separate 1 eggSet aside the white
In a small bowl, whisk together yolk remaining egg, and vanilla.Set aside
